Nasya (Nasyam) Therapy in Dubai

Ayurvedic nasal therapy for the head, sinuses and neck, in Jumeirah 1

Nasya (also called Nasyam) is the Ayurvedic therapy in which medicated oils, herbal juices or powders are given through the nose. It is one of the five Panchakarma therapies and is traditionally used for sinus congestion, allergies, dryness, headaches and stress. At RamaCare Polyclinic in Jumeirah 1, Dubai, Dr. Shamna Keloth Meethal (BAMS) assesses you first and chooses the oil, such as Anu Taila, Shadbindu Taila or Ksheerabala Taila. A Kerala-trained therapist of your own gender then gives the Nasya after a face massage and steam, in sessions of 60–90 minutes.

Treatment Overview

What Is Nasya (Nasyam) Therapy?

Understanding Ayurvedic Nasya Therapy

Nasya is one of the five classical Panchakarma therapies; see our Panchakarma treatment in Dubai for full 7, 14 and 21-day programmes. Nasya is a traditional Ayurvedic detoxification procedure that involves the controlled administration of herbal oils or herbal extracts through the nasal passages. According to Ayurveda, the nose is considered the gateway to the head, making Nasya Therapy an important treatment for supporting respiratory wellness, mental clarity, sinus health, and nervous system balance.

Modern lifestyle factors such as pollution, dust exposure, stress, poor sleep quality, excessive screen time, and unhealthy routines may contribute to toxin accumulation in the head and neck region. Ayurvedic nasal detox therapies aim to cleanse these pathways naturally while promoting relaxation and overall wellness.

Unlike temporary nasal cleansing methods, Ayurvedic Nasya Therapy focuses on restoring balance holistically by supporting the respiratory system, improving circulation, reducing dryness, and calming the nervous system naturally.

At RamaCare Polyclinic, every Nasya Therapy program is customized according to the patient’s body constitution, symptoms, lifestyle habits, and wellness goals.

Why Nasya Is Popular in Dubai

Dust, sandstorms, dry desert air and long hours in air-conditioning often leave people in Dubai with blocked or dry noses, sinus congestion, allergies and headaches. Ayurveda calls the nose the gateway to the head (Nasa hi shiraso dwaram), which is why Nasya is used for conditions of the head, sinuses and neck.

Sinus Congestion & Nasal Blockage

Chronic sinus congestion, nasal blockage, and breathing difficulties can significantly impact daily life, sleep quality, and overall comfort. Environmental pollutants, dust exposure, and seasonal allergens often worsen these conditions, leading to persistent discomfort and reduced respiratory wellness.

Dust, Sandstorms and Dry Air

Dubai's dust, sandstorms and dry, air-conditioned air irritate and dry the nasal lining, a common trigger for congestion and allergies.

Common

Stress & Mental Fatigue

Chronic stress, anxiety, and mental exhaustion negatively impact concentration, emotional balance, and sleep quality. Without proper nervous system support, these issues can persist and affect overall well-being and daily productivity.

Medium

Respiratory Imbalance & Allergies

Recurring allergies, respiratory discomfort, and breathing irregularities often result from environmental triggers and lifestyle habits. These conditions may lead to chronic nasal irritation, excess mucus production .

Medium

Poor Sleep & Nervous Tension

Sleep disturbances, insomnia, and nervous tension can stem from imbalanced doshas and accumulated stress. Poor sleep quality affects mental clarity, emotional stability, and the body's natural healing processes.

Oils Used in Nasya (Nasyam)

Dr. Shamna chooses the oil for your condition and dosha. Classical oils, prepared in Kerala, include:

Anu Taila (Anu Thailam)The best-known Nasya oil, used for clinic Nasya and daily Pratimarsha drops; traditionally used for dryness, congestion and the head and neck.
Shadbindu TailaA classical oil traditionally used for sinus congestion, heaviness in the head and headaches.
Ksheerabala TailaA milk-processed oil traditionally used for Vata, dryness and nerve-related complaints.
Herbal powders (Pradhamana) and herbal juices (Navana) are chosen in the same way. Do not start using Nasya oils at home without the doctor's advice.

What Happens During a Nasya Session

1

Consultation: your first visit is with Dr. Shamna, who checks that Nasya suits you and chooses the type and oil.

2

Preparation: a gentle oil massage of the face, head, neck and shoulders, followed by mild steam to the face.

3

The Nasya: you lie back with your head slightly tilted and your eyes covered; your therapist, always of your own gender, places warm drops in each nostril while you breathe in gently.

4

After the drops: the face and soles may be massaged again; you spit out any oil or mucus that reaches the throat and gargle with warm water.

5

Rest: you rest for a few minutes. The whole visit takes 60–90 minutes.

Afterwards, avoid cold water, cold drinks, dust, wind and strong air-conditioning for the rest of the day. A course is usually about 7 days, extended to 14–21 days if needed.
